Daisuke Soga studied with Bernard Haitink, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Ilya Musin, Uros Lajovic, Seiji Ozawa, Masahiko Tanaka, Ion Cheptea, Tadashi Mori, and others at the Toho Gakuen College of Music and the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna as well as many master classes. He made his debut in Romania in 1989 while he was still a student at the National University of Music Bucharest.

He won the 1st prizes at the International Besançon Competition for Young Conductors in 1993 and the International Kirill Kondrashin Competition for Young Conductors in 1998. Since then he has performed with many orchestras in Japan, Europe, Asia, U.S.A and South America including Orchestre National de Capitol de Toulouse, Orchestre de Chambre Lousanne, Wiener Kammerorchester, Teatro Massimo Catania, the Netherland Philharmonic, George Enescu Philharmonic, Petrobras Symphony, Tokyo Philharmonic, Tokyo Symphony, Japan Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Osaka Philharmonic, China National Symphony etc. The tie between Soga and Romania is particularly strong and he regularly performs with the George Enescu Philharmonic, the National Radio Orchestra of Romania, and the Braşov Philharmonic. In 2013, Soga was invited to conduct Inauguration concert of New Brasov Philharmonic “Patria” hall, also Season Opening performances of the Brasov Philharmonic and the Brasov Opera.

Soga was Principal Guest Conductor of National Radio Orchestra of Romania, Music Director of Osaka Symphoniker (currently Osaka Symphony Orchestra) and Principal Conductor of Tokyo New City Orchestra. He activated as a youngest Music Director with Osaka Symphony Orchestra, he was commented as “the new trend was brought to Osaka” and made success in the first Europian tour.

Soga has been Principal Conductor of the Londrina Music Festival in Brazil since 2006. He is invited to teach at music festivals and master classes, and also to be a jury member of conducting competition. Recently, Soga is successful as a composer as well. His works have been performed world-wide including Japan, Italy, Romania, U.S.A., Spain and Brazil.

To support the recovery effort from the Great East Japan Earthquake, Soga has developed internationally. Under the project, music instruments were given to elementary schools in the affected area and other activities are still in progress.

CD’s recorded with Tokyo New City Orchestra has been released by Delta Classics.

Soga is Citizen of honor of Londrina City in Brasiland Brasov City in Romania.

In 2014, Soga was appointed Resident Conductor of the Tokyo New City Orchestra.

Many years of efforts to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Romania, including the opening of exchanges between Romania and Musashino City, have resulted in the honor of receiving the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2021.

The tie between Soga and Romania is particularly strong, he regularly performs with many orchestras. Since 1992, he has performed with the Braşov Philharmonic every year very often.
In 2013, he was invited to conduct Inauguration concert of New Brasov Philharmonic “Patria” hall.
In January 2020, he began his year’s activities with the “George Enescu” Philharmonic Bucharest.

Soga was Guest Conductor of National Radio Orchestra of Romania, Music Director of Osaka Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of Tokyo New City Orchestra.

He is invited to teach at music festivals and master classes, and also to be a jury member of conducting competition. Recently, he is successful as a composer as well. His orchestral work, “Fantasy after traditional dances from “Kamimizo”region”, just premiered in this September.
