Composer Zou Ye
Zou Ye is a composer born on October 20, 1957, in Jiangjin, Sichuan, China. In 1982, he graduated from the Composition Department of Hubei Academy of Arts, specializing in composition. That same year, he was assigned to the Opera Composition Department of the Wuhan Song and Dance Theater, where he worked as a composer. In 1990, he transferred to the China Children’s Art Theater in Beijing, continuing his work as a composer, and he retired from the theater in 2017.
Since 2005, Zou Ye has been working with the China Philharmonic Orchestra and has been appointed as a resident composer with the orchestra. Over the past forty years, he has been involved in composing symphonic music, operas, plays, films, and television productions. He has created numerous musical works, including:
Opera: “Zheng He”
Symphonic Peking Opera: “Drunken Concubine”
Single-movement Symphony: “Shanghai 1937”
Symphony: “Colorful Yunnan”
Symphony: “Flag”
Choral Symphony: “Dedicated to 2020”
Film: “Chinese New Year,” “Song of the Clouds and Waters,” “Iron Man”
TV dramas: “Storming the Northeast,” “The Orphan Case of the Zhao Family”
In 2022, Zou Ye accepted a commission to compose music for the stage production “Kūkai”
