May Nagahisa has been appointed First Soloist of the Mariinsky Ballet!

May Nagahisa of the Mariinsky Ballet has been promoted to First Soloist!
Nagahisa was discovered by Mariinsky Director Fateev and joined the company as Second Soloist at the young age of 18.
She has performed lead roles in ballets including The Nutcracker, Giselle and Romeo and Juliet. She also recently debuted in the role of Diamonds in Jewels.
May said, “I am truly thankful. I will continue working to become a dancer who makes audiences happy.”

In April 2021, May Nagahisa was selected by Forbes Asia as “Featured Honoree” in the arts division of “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2021” (30 people under 30 representing Asia).
She was also selected for a close-up documentary on ABEMATV’s first-ever original documentary program “Millennial.”
This outstanding young dancer continues to expand her range of activity.
